YBPs Rock the Vote Campaign

The YBP wants to encourage our members and all young professionals to get out and vote in this election. In the 2009 City Council election, voter turnout was 16%. It was even worse in 2007 when only 11% of registered voters hit the polls.

City Council elections are just as important as presidential elections since these are the people who decide what happens in Corpus Christi. As caring and dedicated citizens of the Coastal Bend, it’s important that we choose who we have representing us on the City Council and in the Mayor’s office.

For these reasons, the YBP has launched the “YBPs Rock the Vote” campaign.  We’re putting together a voter’s guide filled with issues that are relevant to young professionals in the area.  We’ll distribute this to the candidates and then post their answers on our Facebook page and website. We’re also planning a “YBPs Rock the Vote” party at Bourbon St. where young professionals can meet the candidates and get a free drink if they present their voter’s receipt.
